Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers about pricing, the 14-day free trial, and how Ledgerline runs your books, cash, payroll, and taxes.

Pricing

What are the packages and what do they cost?

There are three packages, all shown as proposed prices: Starter at $19/month, Business at $299.99/month, and Scale at $399.99/month. Starter covers the core books — journal, chart of accounts, AI category suggestions, and the main reports. Business adds bank feed connections, budgets, a 26-week cash forecast, and payroll and tax planning tools. Scale adds the payroll calendar with auto-posting, the payroll schedule, the payroll tax calculator, and the tax dashboard with overdue alerts.

Why are the prices labeled “proposed”?

Subscriptions and checkout are not active yet, so no charge is ever made. The prices shown are our proposal while payment checkout is being set up. Once checkout is live, the packages you see on the pricing page become the real monthly prices.

What payment methods will you accept?

When subscriptions go live, checkout will accept credit card, debit card, ACH bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Buy Now, Pay Later. Until then, creating an account is free and no card is requested.

Can I change packages later?

Yes. You can move up or down between packages. Your journal, chart of accounts, and reports stay put — only the tools available on each package change.

The 14-day free trial

How does the free trial work?

Every package starts with a 14-day free trial. You choose a package on the pricing page and create an account — no credit card is required, and you are not charged at signup.

What happens when the trial ends?

While checkout is not active yet, accounts simply remain free and your data stays right where it is — nothing is deleted and nothing is charged. Once subscriptions go live, a trial ends after 14 days and the account switches to the paid package you chose, with billing handled in the app's billing page.

Do I need a card to start the trial?

No. No card is collected when you create an account, and creating an account does not start a paid plan.

Can I try the software before creating an account?

Yes — the demo page shows a fully worked example with sample data only, not connected to any real account.

How the software works

Where do my numbers live?

Everything runs on one journal. Manual entries, AI-suggested entries, bank feed items, expenses, and payroll runs all post to the same journal, and every report — balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, budgets, forecasts — is derived from it. That is why the numbers agree across the app instead of drifting apart.

How does AI categorization work?

When a transaction comes in, Ledgerline first matches its description against the keywords on your chart of accounts — your own mapping always wins, with the longest match taking priority. If nothing matches, an AI suggestion fills the gap, and you can always recategorize by hand.

How do bank connections work?

You connect your bank yourself and authorize the connection with your own credentials — we never see or store your bank login. Once connected, transactions flow into the ledger where they are categorized and can be reconciled against your balance. You can also import a CSV statement or enter transactions by hand on the Cash entry page; use one method per account so entries are not duplicated.

Does Ledgerline invent figures for me?

No. We never make up deposits, expenses, payroll amounts, or tax figures. The numbers in your books come from your bank feed, your imports, and your own entries — so your balance sheet and cash picture reflect your real business.

What does it do for payroll and taxes?

Payroll runs post their gross pay, withholdings, net pay, and employer taxes straight to the journal, and the payroll schedule lays each period out month by month. Tax deadlines sit on the tax calendar, the tax dashboard flags anything overdue, and filings are tracked so returns and payments stay in the same line of sight as the rest of your books.

What is my data's role in AI suggestions?

AI is used to suggest categories for your transactions — it does not train on or expose your financial data to other customers. Your chart of accounts and keywords always take priority over any suggestion.
